Do Not Resuscitate Order (DNR)

An order that instructs health care professionals not to attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the event a person suffers cardiac or respiratory arrest. This does not mean that the individual does not receive care.  Continuing care is provided as it would to any individual, such as medications for pain or antibiotics, except as stated above.
