AARP'S Caregiving Resource Center provides a Long-term Care Calculator that enables users to compare costs, types and length of care (homemaker services, home health aides,
adult day care, assisted living and nursing home) by metro area, including Long Island. A similar calculator is available on the Genworth Financial website: www.genworth.com

Nassau NY Connects

Suffolk NY Connects

In partnership with the New York State’s NY Connects program, the Nassau and Suffolk county offices for the aging administer free, locally-based Connects programs that provide practical information, referrals, and assistance in accessing long-term care services and support for the frail elderly. Trained specialists provide objective, individualized assistance to seniors and their caregivers, whether people paying for these services themselves, through insurance or government programs.

The Nassau County Office of Aging website has a link to the Nassau NY* Connects website that lists resources by 12 subject categories, as well as answers to frequently asked questions.
